I just ordered a new RCBS Uniflow powder measure, and I did not order the separate stand. I was wondering if any out there mount this powder measure directly onto a loading press. It does come with a flat steel piece to affix the press to something, but I'm not sure how?

I am currently using the Lee Classic Turret press.

I ran into a problem with getting all of the rows of the loading tray to line up with the measure to drop the charge, so I just went to the stand... I think it's much faster to do the charging in a tray and eaiser to visually inspect for no or double changes in the cases.

I have both an RCBS single stage and a Hornady progressive press.

If you're talkng about mounting it on the press as a station, with the Lee turret, it would probably work out better for you, than the full progressive press that I have.

That flat piece attaches to the reloading bench/table and the measure hangs out over the edge of the bench/table top.

That flat piece can be attached to the press using just a die itself. Then, just charge all your cases, remove the die and the flat piece and put the powder measure away.

Thanks that's good information. I'm wondering though if I mount it using a die, then the powder measure is circling around as the turret moves. I'm wondering what effect this may have.

Charging each round in a tray has definite benefits if your hand is steady enough not to spill the contents of a charge.

I was thinking you had a single stage press.

This is the solution I came up with. A long bolt, a couple of washers and nuts and you're in business. The best part is, when you're finished, you just rotate it out of the way.

Spend the $20 or so and get the stand ( I got the "advanced version) Makes life much easier. There is a adapter that someone sells for mounting to the powder die.

I have to agree...I tried making my own but it was just less hassle to buy the one made for it. When I'm charging cases, I
C-clamp it to my work bench. When I'm done, it gets put out of the way.

This system looks like it would work well with my setup. Thanks for the pics. I saw a similar one on another forum using a 1/2" nipple and a floor flange, and some threaded nuts.

buckshotshorty, I had my reloading bench set up in a guest bedroom which was a source of constant irritation to my wife. I bought a big cabinet and mounted everything inside. Now I can close the cabinet and hide everything.

However you decide to mount the pm on your bench, just make sure it's very secure. When you pull the handle any excess movement in the pm can have an affect on the charge. I've found a stand bolted to the bench works best, absolutely no movement.

I'm going to give this a try on my Lee turret, maybe it would work for you too. Uniflow Powder Measure Case Activated Linkage Kit

I always used the bracket and mounted my powder measure to my RCBS single load press with a sizing dye. I never have got past loading one at a time so it worked well for me.

Do some research. There's a guy who used the linkage from Hornady case activated powder drop. It's half the price of the RCBS, and I'm told that it works. Currently, Midway USA has it on back order.
