Is there a reason you specify Unique powder? I think you will have better results (higher velocity and lower pressure) with 2400. 15 grains of 2400 will give you about 1000 fps.

Use this data at your own risk, etc.

If you insist upon using Unique, I'd say you are in the ballpark with 8 grains as a safe starting load. 9 should be full power (at least) so be careful.

I agree with Mr. Sear-Unique is not the optimum choice. Probably doable at safe pressures but you will be close to the top pressure wise. 2400 might be a little messy at that level. I would use 800x. 11 grains of 800x sends a 240cast downrange out of a 4 inch at a bit over 1100fps and is way under max. That charge would probably be about what you want with the 270. look at the published data for confirmation.

The Alliant site lists 11.0 grains of Unique with a 250 grain Keith bullet for the 44 Mag. A widely used load is 10.0 grains so 8 to 9 grains should not be a problem with the slightly heavier bullet.

I don't know if it will give you 1000 fps but it might be all you want to shoot out of such a light revolver.
