Default Reload help. Unique powder in 9MM

I have not reloaded in 25 years. Back then I did 357 mag with Unique powder and 168 gr SWC.

Now I have a new lee single press, the anniversary kit. Is Unique still a good powder for 115 gr Hornady FMJ round? Is there a better powder? I will also be reloading 45 ACP later this year.

What is a good reload manual to get?
suggestions needed. (yes the unique will be new)

Edit to fix 155 gr to 115

Unique is still a great all around powder. Cleaner now to boot. Ive never loaded 155 gr for 9mm but I load quite a bit of 147gr cast with unique. you could probably work up a decent load using 147 gr data and starting out low. Unique is also great in my 45s, 38,357 and 44's that I load for my dad.

Unique will work, but I prefer Red Dot for my 9mm loads. RD also works for .45 ACP.

Did you mean a 115 grain bullet?

My go-to powder for both the 9mm and 45 Auto is W231/HP-38. It meters very well and it's clean burning. I use it for most of my handgun reloading.

Unique is just fine for both calibers.
I like the Lyman Reloading Manual.
Welcome back after all of those years. I took a few years off also and I was glad to be back.

Unique's a great powder for 9mm. A lot of people complain about it being dirty but if you'll rev it up a little it'll burn a little cleaner. There probably are better powders you could use but there's really no way of knowing for sure w/o experimentation. For plinking and general all round use Unique is fine.

used unique in 9mm dont have my log by me was either 115gr or 124/125gr bullets.
its still dirty and gets weak in cold temperatures ie lower pressure casings would barely eject then bounce off top of the gun or a little to the right 1-2".

IIRC max loads were slightly compressed but no biggie.

if I had a choice I would go with powerpistol it meters slightly better and burns a bit cleaner
though it can create a huge white fireball instead of a smaller orange muzzle blast.
