Winchester shotgun powder
Today....I acquire three 3lbs cans of
Win Super-Field AA WSF3
Win Super-Target AA WST3
Win Super-Lite WSL3
I believe these to be older cans due to the dust on top
Just making sure these powders are the same as modern WST and WSF for handgun use?
The previous previous owner was a huge shotgunner and just want to confirm its the same for pistolas.
Not sure if WSL is a good handgun powder. I got bags of wads too.

I used WST for 45acp handloads in a 45 auto. Very accurate. Think at one point some years back they discontinued it for sometime. Then re-released it again. I started out shooting the 45 auto with WST found it was easy to meter out of a dillon powder measure. Never saw any reason to change. Why reinvent the wheel?. Frank

thanks for the reply
I thinks its the same stuff.
the part that is throwing me off is the WST3, WSF3 and WSL3 destination after the name.
the guy who I got them from....they belonged to his grandpa who was a shotgunner reloader.
I think the 3 refers to the 3lbs can. No where on the 1lbs can can I find this type of imprint and that threw me off.

Yes, the "3" refers to a 3 lbs can.
WSF is my favorite handgun powder. I use it in almost everything I shoot, even having developed handloads for it where there is no data available. I have used it ever since it first appeared on the market. WST is another great powder, but I don't use as much of it because I use more WSF for shotshells in 20ga.
WSL was a longtime favorite for a very zippy 1 oz. 12 ga load. That was my favorite dove and clays load in the 12. I seem to recall loading it in 40S&W, but switched to WSF early on. It certainly should work. I think I still have a few of the early 1990s data booklets from Winchester.

W-W publised data for WSF and WST in handgun loads. I have never seen any data for WSL in handgun loads.
I use WSF in 9mm and 40 S&W and WST in 45ACP and mild 40 S&W loads.

I like WST for my major .45 acp loads. 5.3 gr behind a cast 200 gr. SWC (H&G 68) is very accurate. I was told by a Win. rep that WST was the replacement for AA452 quite a few years ago, which had been my favorite 45 powder.

Is WST the successor to AA452? The local bullseye shooters ransom rested a bunch of loads, and AA452 was very impressive. I am tempted to try WST, but I have a bunch of Bullseye to use up.
