I recently saw one of these online and it seems really nice to me. I was just wondering if it really works as well as it seems.

How hard is it to change molds?

Its kind of expensive, but if I sell off my RCBS bottom pour and lyman molds I should be half way to it.

Master Caster

The MASTER CASTER is a nice machine and operates with ONE TWO CAVITY MOLD.

Ballisti-Cast has a machine that operates with TWO-TWO CAVITY MOLDS or MOULDS if you perfer.
It Costs about twice the Master Casters $1000 ($1200 if you order the tempreture controller, highly reccommended).

The machines would depend upon your hourly output needs. The Machines save wear and tear on OLDER BODIES.

Mike Sand, the new owner of Ballisti-Cast now owns the rights to the CHERRIES and Mold Designs of the old H&G Molds.

He now makes them (the old H&G) as Hand Molds, The Ballisti-Cast Machines Molds, and he also is currently offering them
to fit the Magma Master Caster Machine too. THESE ARE IRON MOLDS.

The molds on the Master Caster are easy to change (Google it, videos are there showing operation and mold changes).

Ballisti-Cast is a sponsor over at the Cast Boolits forum.
He actually is a vendor WORKING WITH CUSTOMERS on design changes for their machines, boolit design and GROUP BUYS.

I would consider the Magma Master Caster or the Ballisti-Cast smaller machine as good machines.

Ballisti-Cast also makes a machine that operates with 8 molds at the same time if your looking more to commercial needs.

I owned one for a few years knock out two pins to change molds. Dont cast in shorts and flip flops. One thing i was warned about and i think it would apply to all bottom pour when you turn off the pot do not cast anymore the plunger can stick as the lead is cooling and when you turn it on the next time you could drain the pot if your not watching (imagine the mess). I installed a small fan above the mold to cool just crack the mold and wait a second or two. You can buy other dual cavity molds and have a machine shop cut the slots to fit a magma. I had a lee 475 linebaugh cut only took a min to do. once it warms up you can throw some lead. I may have a few molds left.

I have one, bought 20yrs ago & still going strong. It is a good machine, easy to cast for hours as all you do is pull the handle. Since it will take any iron two cav w/ conversion, you are not limited to Magma molds, although they are good. IT is NOT any faster than a 20# PB pot & 6cav mold, about 550/hr, but you can cast for litteraly hours, not possible for most of us doing it by hand. I paid $495 for mine new, thought I was nuts, but sitting right @ $1000 today, glad I did.
