I have been playing with the .41 Rem. Mag. for 30+ years.Shot thousands of full magnum loads out of a Ruger Blackhawk, they will shoot well, not the most comfortable platform for the .41 Mag.and full magnum loads. It was my only handgun for 20 years, and was never very good with it.It was the cartridge that started me reloading as $35.00 for 50 rounds was out of the Q.The reloading data I could find was(Sierra,Hornady,Nosler) for full magnum level loads even with cast lead bullets.
20 new to me revolvers over the past 10 years in 7 different cartridges mostly older Colts and S&W's. Learned how to tame down cast loads to very accurate 800-850 fps loads with custom made bullet molds and great powders available that are very suitable for "target loads" in the .41 Mag.without doing the .41 Special thing.I left the 2400,Unique,Blue Dot loads far behind in favor of Clays and Auto Comp. Bullseye for 700-750 fps. loads and 210-230gr.bullets,specifically "Keith" style bullets.
I have 4- 41. Mag revolvers 2 Mdl. 57's and a 657 (no -) and my original Ruger Blackhawk 7 1/2".Lots of time spent finding what works.
This target was shot at Folsom Shooting Club,Sloughouse CA a few weeks ago.It is my first perfect score @15 yds. Bullseye style.
Never thought I would shoot anything close to this. The load is a 215gr. "Keith" Night Owl Express mold bullet and 4.7 gr. Clays and my 6" 657.
