Default need 45 S&W pet loads

Howdy , lookin' for some favorite Schofield loads. I currently load a 200 gr LRNFP over 4.5 Clays. Casting a lead 225 RN is set for next week. I would appreciate any load data for both. regards MM

I load for the .45 Colt but not the 45 S&W but my buddy load Schofield loads. Like me he uses several powders which work well, W231, HS-6 and Universal but he likes W231 best. With a 230gr bullet he charges 5.6gr W231. I used to load mostly W231 in my .45 Colt but I found myself changing over to HS-6 lately. All 3 powders are good choices IMO and you can add AA#5 and Unique to the list too.

Hope this helps...

I use 4.0 grains of Bullseye with a 200 gr. RNFP. I haven't shot anything else because that's the only mold I have that looks cowboyish in .45 cal. If I did, I'd probably go with the 4.0 grains and adjust as needed.

Default followup 45 S&W loads

I cast using the 230 gr RN mold. Most weighed appx. 225 give/take 1.5 gr.(melt 80% wheel weight,20% pure lead and enough tin to cast well) Then loaded over 4.3 Clays ( a mild load from the Hogdgon cowboy manual). These shot to POA and offered low recoil. I am still looking for other safe loads as the official printed info is somewhat limited.
