Default Whats Your Favorite M&P 9c 9mm Load?

Hey all been experimenting with loads, currently with W231 and was looking for input on what loads other people use?

I got a M&P 9c have not had the best luck with W231.

Currently using Berry's 115 RN bullets, but running out of em soon.

Thinking about switching over to Power Pistol.

So what is everyone's favorite bullet/powder combo for plinking? Thanks all!

My wife has a 9C and I have loaded quite a few Berry's for her as well as for my 5906.

She doesn't much care for the lighter bullet either.

I had decent loads for my full sized 5906 using W231 and Berry's 115 plated hollow points at 4.8 grains, although if I pushed them harder they tended to separate. That's the thing with plated bullets - gotta keep 'em sub-sonic.

My tried-and-true load for plinking the 9mm is Berry's 124 grain plated hollow points (#32871 - $87.67/1000) over 4.1 grains W231 - OAL 1.090. Seems to run well in everything.

I like the 147 grain Hornady XTP over 5.0 grains of Power Pistol - OAL 1.100 +/-0.005. The felt recoil in the 9C is substantial but more "back" than "flip" if that makes sense. And my 5906 eats it like candy.

I am not an expert by any means. The usual disclaimers apply...

I have a full size M&P that I shoot a lot (average about 1200 rounds a month). I started with Berry's 115gr RN with W231 powder but found that (at least with my pistol) heavier bullets were more accurate. I also switched to Universal powder as it was a lot easier to find in my neck of the woods and in any case I couldn't find any loading data for W231 with 147gr bullets. I have shot a lot of 124gr Berry's RN on top of 4.2gr of Universal with good luck. It's kind of a midrange load that is easy to shoot. The Berry's 124gr HP's seem to be more accurate but are a lot pickier about OAL in my pistol. However, loaded on top of 4.2gr of Universal I can easily get 5 shot quarter+ sized groups at 50ft from a sitting position. I've recently started trying out Berry's 147gr RN's on top of 3.3gr of Universal. My only loading data shows this as being toward the top end but I don't see any signs of high pressure. It has been very accurate for rapid fire as it just doesn't seem to move the pistol much. At 50ft firing as quickly as I can re-aquire the target I can get 15 shot groups fired offhand that can easily be covered with a playing card. Of course these loads are for reference only and I would recommend you work your way up to anything. I am about to order some more bullets from Berry's and am looking forward to trying their 124gr HBRN and getting some more 147's. For OAL with any of the RN's I have loaded I seat them right around 1.157. This feeds reliably and is long enough that I think it may help to deep the pressure down. The HP's are pickier and are usually seated at about 1.118. Again YMMV
