Just picked up a 6½" 657-2 .41 Magnum for hunting. Since I don't pour my own bullets, can anyone recommend a good cast bullet (heavy) for elk, bear, and hogs? Here is my new acquisition:



I like H-110 for propellant, and Unique as well, for my other magnums. However, this is my first .41; do these powders seem to work well in this caliber?

I like Cast Performance 265 grain LWFNGC myself. I load them to 1400 fps in my Ruger Redhawk using 'Lil Gun. H110 or 296 should be capable of similar velocities, too. I use Unique for my plinking loads, 9.7 grains behind Berry 210 grain plated bullets. Unique is probably not the best choice for hunting loads but very good for plinking. H110 should work very well for your hunting loads.

I use the Lyman 220gr 410459 , which is similar to the original 'Keith-style' SWC. Someone offers a 250gr version which should also do well. The LBT wide flat point bullets are another good choice and the 250gr is available factory loaded in Federal's Cast-Core line.
