Default Rim Rock Bullets - Report your RECENT experience

I've been trying out bullets from a number of manufacturer's over the last year or so, loading and shooting a couple hundred rounds each week. All my trials with novel bullet types (plated, polymer) were complete wash-outs. So much so that I did not report them for fear of being accused of flaming.

I reported my experience with a couple of the more popular lead casters. I was overall happy with what I got from them, but was always just a little put-off by the 1%-2% of irregulars in any random order. Folks accused me of being too particular. Maybe I was being too harsh on these bargain price casters?

So, since I am willing to pay a bit more to get a bit better bullet, I started poking around to see whether there were any casters notable for high quality but where folks bridled at the price. I was also specifically looking for some heavier lead to load into 327 federal brass.

I decided to order 1000 125gr 22BH "Keith" style SWC's from Rim Rock Bullets. The order arrived at my door in exactly one week. Packaging was better than what I have seen from any other supplier, with an extra box fitting perfectly inside the standard parcel box, and the boxes of bullets packed in newspaper inside the inner box.

The bullets are nearly perfectly regular in shape and size, with sharply defined edges and very smooth surfaces. The casting lines are unusually fine. The bases are flat, with a neat and flush sprue trim. I could not find any badly formed bullets in the box. The lube is very dark red, transparent, and hard, but not brittle.

I am satisfied that these bullets are worth a premium price. Of course, these particular bullets are a little unusual and not generally available, but if they are indicative of Rim Rock's usual quality, I will be buying all my bullets from them in the future. Basically, the bullets you get look like the pictures on the website... Not the norm, in my experience.

The Rim Rock website offers an exceedingly wide range of bullets. They are also very responsive to email.

When my new gun comes in, I'll add a range report.
