HSM .44 Hard Cast SWC
Picked up a 250 count box of HSM .429 240 grain hard cast SWC's, don't really see any "suggested " loads here for the cast bullets.
I have Unique,Herco,2400 and 296 on hand, anyone tried these cast SWC's with any of these powders?
Will be used in a Dan Wesson 10" 744 and a Marlin 1894 .44 lever action carbine.
Thx!

17.5-18.0grs. of 2400 is a nice moderate load. 21grs. if the lead is hard enough & you want a hot load.

Thx guys! With the shortage of powder/primers/lead I am trying to figure out how to make my supply of goodies last for a while, since I have more 2400 than anything else at the moment, looks like thats the way to go.

Marlin 1894
Read the logo on your Marlin barrel. If it says Microgroove rifling don't waste your time trying to shoot cast bullets. My 1894 shot 2" groups with jacketed bullets at 75 yards. It couldn't hit a 5 gallon bucket with cast bullets. I tried several different bullets, powders, and loads -- It would not shoot cast bullets.
Skip Hackett may chime in with words of wisdom to make it shoot, but my experience was it don't work.

Again Thx guys for the input, the HSM site has a link to some .44 loads, but the only 2 powders they list are HP-38 and Tightgroup.
