Default Strange Response from Natchez Regarding Primers

cliffs:
email from Natchez saying primers were in stock

ordered 10K Tula "Small Rifle Magnum" primers
(TULA makes three different 'small rifle' primers)

3-4 weeks later they arrived

boxes are marked "Small Rifle .223 Rem", not "Magnum"

called and waited on hold thru 52 other calls (keep working on the bench)

rep says, "hmmm...let me ask someone about that"

comes back on the line and says...
"We noticed that and called our supplier (Tula?) and they said 'THOSE ARE REALLY MAGNUM PRIMERS even though the box isn't marked as such'. So, don't worry about reloading them for your AR-15".

I sent them an email asking to put that in writing.

Guess I'll try a few and see what happens reloading .223, not max 5.56 NATO loads.

What say you?

btw: I like doing business with Natchez.

This reminds me of when I ordered 1000 rounds of TulAmmo 223 62gr FMJ from sgammo. When the box arrived the individual ammo boxes were in a sealed plastic bag inside the big box and the individual ammo boxes said 223 HP instead of FMJ.

I sent an email to sgammo and the guy told me to open the bag and check inside one of the boxes. Sure enough, it was FMJ, not HP.

I confirmed back to the sgammo guy that I had indeed received the correct product, albeit mislabeled and his reply was:

"The funny stuff that Russians do... They have a saying "you want ammo, you got ammo" which basically means they fill orders with whatever they have on hand to make the round count on the contract, so stuff like this happens much more frequently with Russian brands. If you are cool with mix marked boxes that's great, if you want to exchange that's fine to, just let me know"

I thought that was very funny, say it to yourself with your best Russian accent "you want ammo, you got ammo"

"By the 21st Century the Americans were willing to settle for whatever the Russians decided to send them..."

Sounds like the prologue for a movie, the ending of which I do not want to see.

Really? I'm just buying primers I find at any decent price for right now. I may prefer Winchester but right now I'll buy anything that isn't a rip off price.

Thats all well and good, but the American manufactures seemed to have quit making primers, bullets, and loaded ammo, all they are producing is unobtainium. The Russians are still manufacturing primers and not ripping us off on the price. I would rather load a cartridge with a Russian primer that I am able to obtain for a reasonable price, than to quit shooting because American primers, are seldom available and expensive.

Probably don't need to say too much on quality control in Russia let alone if there is much QC at all on exported products. However I will say from where I set I would hate to worry about a pierced primer due to a thin wall or metallurgically challenged anvil. I guess a lot would have to do with the gun's design and the cartridge pressure but having a primer fail could ruin your whole day if not worse.

Here is what my Tula primer boxes look like for comparison. I got these from Graf's and they were marketed as Standard. It clearly says Standard on it.

What say you?
What is the part number of the primers they sent you? If the Part # is KVB223 they are standard SRP. If the Part # is KBV223M they are SRM primers but we already know they are not magnum primers. If the part # is KVB556M you are in luck. Those are the Tula primers made for semi-auto .223 ammo much like the CCI #41 NATO primers. You might have gotten lucky but if they are the first number I listed, not so much!
