Default LC 74 308 Match brass

Is anyone still using this stuff anymore?

I used to collect it for my dad at the matches at Quantico, Cherry point, Ft. Benning, etc. when I wasn't pulling targets. My dad and I reload it for competition in the late 70's and early 80's. The station wagon was usually squatting low on the ride home.

I still have a ton of it and was wondering if anyone still uses it. I might sell it if there's any demand for it.
I'm guessing there's about 7000 once fired and 3000 that's been re-loaded once and fired in the Winchester Model 70 Ultra Match and 4000 that's been re-loaded 2 times and fired.

I have some lake city M72 30-06 I shoot occasionally and get great accuracy with it in my Sako M75, And still have a bunch of 7.62 national match and match brass dated in the mid 60's. Have not had a problem with either. Frank

Good stuff! I fired many thousands of rounds of Lake City match ammo during the late '60s and early '70s through my National Match M-14 while shooting on the rifle team. I still shoot .308 (one of my favorite calibers), and would certainly consider taking some of it off your hands. I'm currently busy with a lot of assignments, and will not, probably, be on the forum much over the next week or two, please email me at jimflys310 at yahoo dot com, and we'll see what we can work out.

Thanks!

Default .308 LC 74, 75 and 90 ammo

I bought .308 ammo with LC 74, 75 and 90 inprinted on the shells for reloading but won't chamber into my Ruger American. I did everything required before reloading. Why won't it chamber?

You might need a full length re-sizing die, "Small Base". Brass fired in a semi auto may have swollen at the base, and a "normal" re-sizing die won't re-size all the way down.

I love LC Match cases. I prefer them over commercial cases in my M1A and M1MkII. I would consider relieving you of some! You can contact me directly either by PM or email.

At one time I had several thousand LC .308/7.62 match cases, various years. They always worked well for me. I got out of CF match shooting long ago and gave all of them away.

I don't load .308, but I recently made the decision to cull all of my LC69, LC 73 and TW with various hearly 70's headstamps from my .223 reloading stream.

It may be kind of arbitrary, but I decided that any brass contemporary with the VietNam war was probably ready for retirement.

Great brass in ALL regards! LC74 isn't knurlized if I remember correctly and no need to process the primer pocket.
I, like your father, fired many thousands of these in various M1A's in Service Rifle matches.....got me to Master!

Randy

PS. I too would be interested in some of this fine brass as well....PM me

"shoot it in the ole Devine M1A"

Betcha most don't know what you are talking about. But I do. I live two blocks from Elmer Ballance's old SA operation on Radium Drive in San Antonio, where he moved after Devine.
