Default Can 9mm LARGO cases be trimmed to 9MM LUGER

I'm new to 9mm and picked up a bag of new 100 Starline 9mm LARGO cases at a gun show by mistake - instead of 9MM LUGER. (Had contacts in and forgot my readers)

can the cases be trimmed from 0.901" to 0.751"

I notice that the LARGO case's extractor groove has different geometry, with a flatter taper.

If components were easier to find (can't find any new 9mm LUGER cases) - I probably wouldn't even have asked this question and just tried to sell them to a Gun show dealer

Is the O.D. the same, rim dimensions, etc...
If so, then I would think that it would work.
Trim one down, check it out. If not, sell them on ebay or gun broker.

.9mm once fired brass is probably the easiest and most plentiful to get. Just buy 1000 pcs. for $50.00 or so from someone and call it a day!

Can anyone recommend a REPUTABLE "once fired brass" online dealer ? I've read of several sellers that supply 10% to 20% unusable cases (Pakistani stuff, wrong primers, etc)

Seems like a good idea to start (actually late) checking the local ranges and start picking up brass left by others at my range

I would not mess with them mainly due to the fact that the head stamp will be wrong.

9mm brass can still be found, surely a range near you has some laying around.

I would suggest a trade in the classifieds. Someone would probably love to swap straight across. I used to have one and the brass was certainly harder to come by than 9mm Luger.

just ran to the indoor range and picked up 6 pounds for $18 - that was easy - I didn't know they sold them

I'll just try to sell or swap the LARGO's later
now I can start a reloading session later tonight after they get cleaned up

its funny, the 9mm LARGO stamp looks very similar to the 9mm LUGER stamp without reading glasses

thanks all!!!!!

Well you can't beat that! For $18 bucks I sure wouldn't do the pick up brass stoop and kill my back!

Good move for $18,,that's a lot of trimming work to do otherwise and as already stated, it doesn't work out well.
Trimming down the Largo case gets you into thicker walled brass and when you seat the bullet, they most often will bulge the case to the point that most won't chamber.

9mmLargo brass sells for about $20/500 more than 9mmLuger usually.
I used to use it for 9mmSteyr pistol also.
You shouldn't have any problems re-selling or trading it for something useful to you.

I searched before asking and read a little about pakistani brass and stuff that looks like it came from a swamp, etc
I just wanted a good reference for a good business from someone here who has purchased it from them.

Ends up its probably a mute point for me - the indoor range about a mile from house sells it by the pound. Most guys there are not reloaders and just leave spent cases of mostly new ammo on the floor. They won't let anyone pick up brass in front of the stalls and that's where most semi-auto cases go.

what I have now should hold me over until new stuff is available.

Life is short, free time rare.
Buy some "once fired"/ range brass and call it good.
Since you have the 9mm Largo brass, you obviously need to find a pistol to shoot it in...

I agree - did that - now called "GOOD"
I've been prepping the once fired brass this afternoon.
and
I like your logic...but there are quite a few already "Need to buy" before a 9mm LARGO
