Default RCBS PRO 2000

Anybody use one of these ? I may buy a proggressive and I've always liked RCBS products. I know all about the Dillon 550 and that's an option but I want to know about the pro 2000.

I have made about 300,000 rounds with my pro2000. Its a good press. Steel, easy to use, safe with the aps primer strips. You will find them very easy to load but I just buy them preloaded from Powder valley.

I use the RCBS expanders and powder dispenser now in station two (above the priming) and put a powder check die in 3, seat in 4 and crimp in 5. My crimp die is either a redding profile crimper for revolvers or another seating die for auto's just set to crimp.

To me the main selling point is all steel, aps primer strips are safer than tubes and the total costs of ownership if you do a lot calibers is lower than others. Run the numbers and see if you agree. It has been for me.

Thinking of it. I need to get off the computer and go make some ammo on my Pro 2000.

Thanks, think that's what I'll get. I do load for 7 handgun calibers and 30-06 although I'll probably stick with the rockchukker for that.

I do the same. Rockchucker for rifle and Pro2000 for pistol (except 30 carbine). I know I could do rifle on the Pro2000 but I like to hand seat every primer and carefully handle each round.

I have had a Pro 2000 since they first came out and I really like it. I also like the APS priming system,it is probably the best working and safest priming system for a progressive press. It is probably the fastest and easiest (not to mention cheapest) progressive to change calibers on. It has loaded many many thousands of rounds over the years with no problems.

I bought one close to twenty years ago and used it for handgun ammo for several years. I didn't really need a progressive and sold it, but it was a good, simple machine. As I recall, changeover parts were less expensive than other makes.

So, why not put it in the Classifieds here?

Cheers!

Does the Pro 2000 use the same 5 station shell plates as the old Ammo Master/ Piggyback? I currently load on those still, but figure I'll probably need to upgrade at some point. I have a decent number of plates for various calibers

Default RCBS

I'm not familiar with the RCBS Pro 2000 press! The RCBS web site does not list a 2000 progressive press. They have a PRO CHUCKER 5 PROGRESSIVE and a PRO CHUCKER 7 PROGRESSIVE. 5 station or 7 station! It appears the pro 2000 is not offered any more. I have a Dillon 550 but have used Rcbs equipment in the past with good results!

Default PRO 2000

RCBS discontinued it but they still support it. Its a 5 stage progressive. They all had the RCBS primer strip feeder later they came out with the auto indexing feature.

I bought the Pro 2000 when it first came out. I reload 9mm, 40 S&W, 45 ACP and 44 Mag. It's a five stage press which you can switch out the die plates by removing two pins and inserting your next die plate for a different caliber. The only other thing you need to do is adjust the super accurate power measure and the primer seater if you're going from large pistol primers to small primers. The powder measure comes with a micrometer adjustment which is easy to set. Record your setting so changing calibers or metered grains is easy and accurate. I can load 300 rounds in an hour and that's checking grain weight (which never changes) every 25 rounds or so. The primer strips are easy to load with the included primer loader and feed through very easily. You can't beat the RCBS lifetime guarantee and their customer service excellent.
