need help with 148 hbwc
I have some .38 Berrys plated 148 hbwc. I cannot find a recipe using Unique powder. This is the only powder I have right now. Can anyone help?
Thanks.

I believe you'd be safe using data for lead.
I've never tried it, as I usually use Bullseye for that.

I don't like to give data on hbwc's because if they are loaded too hot the skirts could break off & stick in the bbl.
SO BE CAREFUL!!!!
I've used/shot hbwc's with unique before.
Start with 2.8gr & work your load up:
2.8gr
3.0gr
3.2gr MAX!!!
Listen to the report of the fired rounds, if you hear a light report when your using/shooting hbwc's:
STOP & CHECK YOUR BBL FOR A BROKEN SKIRT!!!!

Re: need help with 148 hbwc
Hornady has it in their last 6 manuals. I'll check and post in an hour or do.

Berry's replied to me: " use 3.2 Gr. Bullseye for our HBWC. Do NOT use less powder with the HBWC because there is so much friction drag, that you may stick a bullet in the bore".
I know this is not Unique but keep the reasoning in mind.
Hope this helps.

Plating will add a little more friction than a regular soft lead bullet..........so a little more velosity is needed for the starting loads.
Alliant has 3.5grs Unique as a starting load for a lead 148gr WC Tgt bullet ............ might try 3.7grs and see what happens. I never tried Unique in target loads due to its tendency to be dirty at the lower velositys, til it gets up into the medium high velosity loads, where it cleans up.
Good loading.
