Default ACME BULLET CO.

Has anyone here tried ACME bullets? I ordered some 45 acp. 200 gr. SWC. and some brass from them and received them today. The bullets look great and come in a really nice wooden box. I loaded up some today with 5.4 grs. of bullseye. I'll let you know how they shoot. By the way they cost $55 per 500.

Beat me to it...I was going to ask if it was owned by the Road Runner. Beep-Beep.

Seriously, the price seems okay and if they load and shoot, you did fine.

No matter how hot you load them, the Road Runner's always faster... Besides, I'd be afraid of 180 degree ricochets, too!

Seriously, they shoot really well. If I can hold to 2 1/2" rested groups at 25 yards like I did today with the rest of them, I am happy. And no leading!

Good grief, no wonder there's so much confusion on this forum, it's "meep meep", not "beep beep"

I'm glad they worked out well for you. I'd suggest you be prepared for more Roadrunner/Wile E. Coyote gags though.

My turn!

Aside from all the jokes - who sells it online? Seems it might be worth checking out.

Limiting magazine capacities is about as effective as limiting the size of beer bottles.

Default Acme Bullets

I've used Acme Bullets for awhile now.
Probably have used more than five thousand of their bullets, in the last year.
No problems, period.
They're good people to deal with, shipping is always prompt.
I don't have any trouble hitting what I'm shooting at.

Maybe it was only the ACME anvils that were not effective.

Well, my jokes aren't as funny as the preceding ones so...

I have purchased a few Acme bullets in configurations I don't have molds for yet. All bullets I received are quality and measure a consistent diameter. Lube seems OK and I really like the small wooden boxes...

I have used thousands of them as well. I have found they ship super fast. I really like the wooden boxes as well as the bonus round they have included and from time to time a little candy. The past few times Ive ordered the boxes have been falling apart like they were not nailed good. I'm buying bullets so that is no big deal. I like ACME far more than my mail lady does.

Recob's (also here in Wisconsin) has the ACME line of bullets as well, albeit for slightly higher prices.
Browsing ACME
Since I can carry stuff out their front door, it ends up being cheaper for us locals hazmat especially.
The Acme bullets are no better or worse than any others.
BHN 16 and a pronounced bevel base I am not a particular fan of (thanks Elmer).
The wooden boxes are kind of cool. The fit of the cover is so perfect they need no restraint, they just sit there.
If they put as much effort into their bullets as they do into the boxes, then the bullets are excellent.
You know you are in Wisconsin when you see a Recobs ad during a Packers game local avail.

Agreed, nice shipping boxes! And thoughtful commemorative boxes with a dash of candy inside.

I've only tried their HT coated bullets, 38 Spcl., 45 Colt & 50 S&W, & they all were of fine quality. I had no leading with them (unlike the MBC HT bullets) & wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

.

Acme Bullets - commemorative box

.

Acme Bullets - typical box

Nice to know about their coated bullets.
It looks a lot thicker (and shinier) than the MBC.
Have not seen them yet on the shelves @ Recobs but have not been there yet for my bimonthly visit.
Just trying out the MBC coated in 44 spl.
Suspect they will not see the forces you put on them in that big 500.

I ran 500 rnds of 95gr 380's thru my G42 with no issues. Currently have 100 rnds of 230gr to try thru my M1911, the wooden box's are cool. But after you consider shipping as part of the total cost, I find myself going back to Everglade. The same $$$ for a copper plated bullet. I've fired 10,000 of their bullets with no issues. The only outfit I buy more from is Extreme, if your lucky to catch one of their big sales, their product and price's are hard to beat

Default ACME Bullets

I just received my order for 500 44 mag (240gr) and 500 45 Colt.
I haven't loaded them up, but plan to put out 50-100 today. Great boxes!

I'm about halfway thru a 2K box of 230's. I found one crushed yesterday but it's a good company and a good bullet. I've used Bayou and Missouri also with good results. I'll use Acme until I find a better bullet. Likely won't happen because I have no reason to look for one.

Once they gave me a box of candy with an order, you can't beat that.

I like them for certain calibers (like 45acp) but at BHN 16 they are too hard for most of my revolvers.

See my post from yesterday about Acme coated bullets:
Coated bullets and lube grooves?
Didn't want to dual post it.

The Acme bullets I've shot with a fairly stiff charge of 2400 gives off a sickening smell like burning plastic.

That may be exactly what you are smelling.
I'll probably be keeping them sub-sonic.
Shot some MBC 210 gr. coated 44's today from 650 to 850 fps and did not notice any unusual smell.
My indoor range has almost hurricane like ventilation that blows one from behind and down the range.
Since it was single digits F. today I had to keep my coats on.
Yeah plural coats. The vent air is fresh from outside.

That smell (hot electrical wiring) is normal on HT coated bullets. It's not necessary to reduce your load because of that. That's why they add the coating, for higher velocity without leading.

I haven't tried their bullets yet. I'll give them a shot the next time I need 45LC lead.
