.44 lead bullets with blue stripes
I got a sack full of lead .44 bullets in a trade deal. I only shoot jacketed bullets out of my guns. These are unjacketed and have blue bands around the bullets. I have a couple hundred. Are they worth selling and the cost of shipping?

The blue band is the lube. You can go to Missouri Bullet link to get an idea of what your bullets would sell for new. The cheapest way to ship bullets is USPS flat rate boxes. You can probably get the 200 in a small flat rate box. Ships for under $6.

Well, they're worth something, even if it's just for the melt weight of lead. The "blue stripes" are bullet lube, necessary for cast bullets. Post a pic if you're not sure what you have, and if you can mic the diameter that would be helpful too. 44 cast can run from .429 to .434, most are sized at .431 but you don't know until you check them.
Flat rate shipping via USPS Priority Mail would probably run about $12 for a med. size box, anywhere in the USA.
eta obviously jepp can type faster than me

If your in south/central Texas, I might be interested in buying them. Your profile does not list a location
However, really you should just load and shoot them. I have some jacketed 44 cal bullets but cast/size and reload lead bullets. I save a whole bunch of money that way and since the velocity is low enough, I don't worry about leading.
If I want to go above 900fps, I just add some linotype to harden it.
If you decide to load these, most reloading manuals will have load data for your bullets.

Why not use them? Have you tried lead bullets? That's all I shoot. I like the cost and performance. I will start casting my own soon. Keith

I've been shooting cast lead bullets for decades. I used to cast my own, but I've stopped now, and just buy the commercial ones. I haven't bought any jacketed bullets in at least 15 years, but I probably have some on hand.
Good hard lead bullets can be driven to about 1100 to 1200 FPS with very little leading.
I load mine to about 1000 FPS, shoot 300 at a time, and get almost no leading at all. Accuracy is very, very good, and they are easy on the revolver.
Unless you are shooting at long distances at metallic silhouettes, 1000 FPS is about all you should need.
Another vote for 'just shoot them'.

Put them in the classified section. I'd buy them if the price was right. I'm sure others here would as well. I'm with everybody else...shoot them.

None of my 44mags see any jacketed bullets. There is nothing a good cast bullet can't do vs a jacketed, even for hunting & SD, form 700fps to 1500fps w/ good results. Lead bullets will extend the life of any revovler. I would use these to get into cast bullet shooting & then stop buying the j bullets.
