Default 165g Copper-plated load data help with Unique?

I have loaded a lot of FMJ before mainly with Win231 and PP, but I recently purchased some powerbond plated bullets and a tub of Unique. I am trying to find some load data (40S&W) using Unique powder. I scowered the internet and found all sorts of beaten around the bush data. Lymans has data of 5.4-6g Speer has 5.4-7g. That seems a little broad to me. I loaded 50 bullets with 6g of Unique and it seems a little on the hot side. I don't see any pressure issues but the extractor looks like its leaving a mark on the spent brass. Any ideas? Thanks

I load 180gr Xtreme plated with 5.5 unique and get 920 - 950fps.
Do you know what velocity you are getting?

Unfortunatly no. I don't have a Chrono yet. My OAL was roughly 1.20 or slightly below that. I think I am going to make a batch at 1.25 and see what happens.

Here's the links to Alliant's "recipes". I haven't loaded any Berrys plated 165 gr rounds, but have had great results with Berrys 180 gr PFP & PRS loads. Used Alliant's loads minus 10%. your 6gr load looks to be right about there.

I load the 165gr RSFP Berrys but out to 1.135" OAL. I use Universal with 6.0grs giving me right 1100fps in a 5" gun. I haven't used Unique with this load but others that I have used both Universal/Unique the loads match real close with the same weight powder charges.
