So not long ago I started reading about coated bullets and became interested. Specifically the Hi-Tek-Lube coating from Australia. I decided to try them out and placed an order with SNS Casting for 500, .45 200 grain SWC coated bullets. The price was reasonable and they were shipped very quickly.
I loaded some with my usual 200 grain load of 4.5 grains of WST and went shooting. So far I like them. I've shot about 150 through 2 of my 1911s and my M&P .45 mid size.
The first thing I noticed was very little smoke. Probably equivalent to copper plated bullets. Second thing I noticed was the slight smell of burnt plastic/polymer. No problems with accuracy or functioning with any of my guns.
The big question for me was if there was any leading. Well, short answer is no. All three guns had no signs of leading and cleaned up very nicely.
What's not to like. I'll be ordering more of these things.
These are what I ordered. The pic is from the SNS casting web site.
