reloading powder
I would like to reload for my 7mm-08 Rem. 700 rifle. I have been shooting the 139 gr. Hornady SST bullet in a factory load and would like to continue using it. A friend recommended getting some BigGame powder made by RamShot. Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with this powder and if it would be good for this application. Thanks!

Before worrying about this, go to your LGS (s) and see what powders in this burning range you can even buy! You probably will have to settle for what you can find, if anything.

alk is right....
alk is right. Nowadays it's best to check reloading manuals and make a list of what will work. Hopefully you'll find one pretty close to what you are looking for.The nice thing is that rifle powder has been somewhat more available than pistol.

Try asking your question here: Reloading Forum (All Calibers) The results might be more extensive.

+1;
Today it is what is available and not what you want, for powders, most of the time...........as mentioned.
If you can find the bullet, powder and primer that you want , you should run out and buy some lotto tickets................
you are one lucky person !!

I've always had better results in the 7mm-08 with midrange powders like Rl-15 and IMR4895. It should work fine if you can find it.

Buy a reloading manual (or two) first, and read every word.

IMR or H4350 work fine with the 139 Hornady in my 7mm-08 .

I'm glad I'm not getting into reloading.
Its hard enough to avoid temptation while we watch our stocks dwindle, to sub with something we don't really want but will make due with.
I suppose it might broaden our load base a little and ever bare fruit, but then it's just another thing subject to availability later.
but to start out today ... I don't envy that at all. It seems even the tools are subject to availability lately. last summer we searched the 4 corners of the area looking for a shell holder to no avail .. these are the things you don't use up.
of the things you do .... primers were the worst at the time with powder not far behind.
we managed to load some 460 mag loads after a solid week of sourcing. I'm unsure if my cousin has all the proper tools to load for himself yet, we did only well enough to make effective use of my rig.
last I checked .. I saw a few rifle powders .. some Ive used .. none I needed ..
all I did manage was some 357 brass for the wifes rifle. Haven't seen loaded ammo in that caliber for a while.
it was actually easier to stock up on stuff for a 32 special than it has been to get a proper stock of ammo for that 357 rifle.

I've used RL 19 with that very same bullet with good results. Good luck on finding any powder at all. ! Bob!

Well, I went to Cabela's and Gander Mtn. and they had very, very little of any reloading supplies. Nothing I could use. I did manage to find primers and the bullets I want to use, but it was by luck I think. The powder might be a different story. I still have one more place to check.
