Default need 124gr GD info

I have yet to buy some 124gr Speer Gold Dot bullets to shoot in the 9mm pistol but they will be tested in the future.

If they are seated with a OAL of 1.12"................

can anyone tell me how much of the bullet is inside of the case?

So far my test with bullets have been from .16" to a maximum of .22" of seating depth and a little knowledge of the seating depth of this bullet..... will help me slide my testing around to fit this bullet when time comes to test it out, hopefully in the velocity department.

Thanks for any info....

You could measure some factory rounds. Alliant shows 1.12" OAL. Should be good.

Otherwise seat as with any other bullet. Plunk test.

Was going to measure the loose 124gr GD bullet for you, but I have already put all mine in the cases.
Factory varies from 1.110 to 1.115 if that helps.
I load OAL to about 1.120 +/- bullet tolerance. I load off the ogive, not the tip. About .36 sticks out of the case. That's about .2 in the case, and drops freely into a SAAMI cartridge gauge for 9mm.

I don't think you're going to gain much by "testing overall lengths for accuracy" with that 9mm bullet. It needs to be out there to feed in various guns, but you don't want to stick it into the rifling.

Thanks for any info....
That would be the part that is not outside the case.

Seriously "why" ?Just seat it to the recommended COL that Speer gives. Works for me.

OH and please let us know if and what year you ever find any. I could not find them before the craziness started!

The Speer GD Bullet 124 Gr # 3998 measure .564" ( 14.33mm) and has a slight bevel base.

You and Forest can do the calculations and graphs and things!
