WST vs W231
So I am scraping bottom of the barrel of my W231 but still have couple pounds of WST. I know that WST is a little faster 18 vs 29 position in burn rate chart. So my question is can I use it in 9x19 & 380 acp, like starting at 231 starting loads ?

Winchester Powders list
W-231, AutoComp and WSF for 9 MM (not WST)
for 380 they list
W231 and AutoComp.

The question pops up here from time to time. Most seem to think not a good idea. If you can find some data published by a reliable source, let us know. I don't recall ever seeing any. I wouldn't improvise by using starting data from another powder.

Once you start using WST you may not ever go back to 231. It burns cleaner, smokes less and recoils less. The 4th edition Hornady manual list loads for WST with 115 and 124 grain loads. You can pm me for me detailed information. My current favorite load is 3.6 grains of WST and a Bayou 147 grain coated bullet.
There are lots of competition shooters using WST in 9mm. I use in 9mm, .45 and .38 Spl.

It happened to me! Couldn't find any W231 and was running low. Had read about using it in 9mm along with 45acp and when I found a 8lb. jug I bought it. Glad I did! It is as RussellD describes.

If you happen to live in the SoCal area, I will trade you one-to-one my 231 for your WST.

WST is a very good powder for 45 ACP. That's the only caliber I've ever used it in.

With the current powder shortage I use WST in both .45 ACP and 9mm, this for "range ammo".
Might go to "Brian Enos Forum" and check "Reloading" for data.

WST is the BEES KNEES in my Baer 45 WADGUN.
