Default Scored some powder today!

It's been months since any LGS had any handgun powder. Alliant powder has been all but non-existent; other powders very sporadic. I call 3-4 shops every week and ask about powder; yesterday I called and one of the shops had gotten a shipment in! NO ALLIANT AT ALL. The owners keep saying Alliant won't ship (?).

Anyway, I was able to pick up 3 lbs. TiteGroup @ $24.99/lb.; 2- 14 oz bottles 700X @ $19.99/btl., and 1 lb. CFE Pistol @ $24.99. With tax right at $150 total. This shop is 75 miles round trip, so I make sure they have things in stock before I go.
They have no limits, unfortunately, my wallet does.

I have never used any of the powders I just bought, but then, I had never used Red Dot until it was all I could find. I did research till the wee hours of the morning and am aware of some of the issues with all the above powders; I don't load on a progressive and I don't mind weighing powder charges, since I load 50-100 rounds at a time. I only shoot cast bullets in 38 Spec, 9mm and 45 acp and only a casual shooter-no competition shooting.

Open to any comments or suggestions...

I only load 9mm, I shoot competition (and practice for it) exclusively. I'm currently using CFE Pistol and found some interesting characteristics when I was developing the load. Typically I load 50 of each powder charge from minimum through maximum and then decide which one I like best. 4.8-5.1 was somewhat inconsistent, 5.2 and 5.4 were the only ones that I liked the accuracy with the edge going to 5.4. Then I loaded a bunch of 5.2 and 5.4 and shot some sample competition strings. What I found was that as I increased my speed, the accuracy of the 5.2 load was better than the 5.4, I attribute that to the noticeably milder recoil on the 5.2 which helped my followup shots. So now I use the 5.2 load in competition. This is in my gun, which is a 5" Core so I expect the right load for you could be a lot different. One thing I did notice is that I get less muzzle blast back onto my optic so I have to clean it less frequently (added bonus). Have fun and be safe. (I have Titegroup, but don't like the way it performs in minor power factor, so I keep it as trading material, two weeks ago, I traded 4# of Titegroup for 4# of 231 which I haven't seen for sale for over a year)

700-X is an excellent powder for all pistol calibers!
