Default Bayou bullet coated velocity

Just curious as to how fast you can load the coated bullets from bayou bullets? Specifically 138gn wadcutters and 158gn swc in 357 magnum. I'm not looking to hot rod them, but for practice I like maybe around 900 fps.

Thank you, that's more than I need.

On a side note, what's with the 138 wadcutters? Should I use 148 data and go from there?

Correct you are.
Start there and work up.

When I first reloaded the black/dk. gray coated bullets (Hi-Tek?), I worked up to jacketed velocities in my 38 Spec., .357 Mag. and 9mm. No problems noted...

I've pushed bayous 1350+fps in my 38 super, no leading and just a tiny amount of goo in my comp.

Pushing moly coated (the gray stuff) that fast, 40 shots and compensator was NASTY.

I shoot 30 cal bayou bullet 1825 fps in my 308. I'm getting about 3" @ 100 yards. 12.5 grains Promo (red dot). I have fired over 500 so far.

I pushed them to 2,000 accuracy went south.

I have 1,000 of those 138 gr wadcutters. I plan to load some for target and some full tilt.

David

I have only been playing with 9mm, and found my all around load for the 124 gr RN at about 1050 fps. 4.1 gr 231. Very happy with it. Still working up a 225 gr 45 acp bullet, not settled on the load yet.

Right now I load conventional lubed button nose wadcutters with a full charge of 231, getting 925 fps out of my 2" Chiefs special. Accuracy is good, but not as good as a HBWC with 2.8 BE.
