.38 special/Lyman .358429
Anyone got a great load using Lyman .358429 and .38 special, not looking for Skeeters .357 load. Plan on using it in my Mod 15.

I like Unique about 4.5 grains. Works good not to hard on things about right.

I have had good results with 6.5 grains HS-6 with magnum primer. Lyman #48 lists 6.4 grains at 16,800 CUP. Chronograph results S&W 642 826fps 36 3" 905fps. Colt Agent 2" 869fps PPS 4" 910fps.

5.0gr of Unique is the classic load with that bullet in a .38 Special case.

The Lyman cast bullet manual lists loads for this bullet with several
different powders.
They list 3.4 grs of Titegroup as being their most accurate
load.

Have a number of powders on hand and have a few thousand bullets so It's time to make the loader go to work.

That bullet is about as good as it gets for the 38 Special. Elmer recommended 5.0 gr Unique for small and medium frame 38 Specials. The Lyman book shows 860 fps from a 4 inch barrel. That is a max load but is not listed as +P.

4.0 grs of HP-38.
I'm shooting this out of a 6 inch Highway Patrolman and it may be in the +P realm.
