Looking hard at purchasing a 10mm auto.

Is there a truncated cone or LSWC in 200-grain weight that you like for this cartridge? How hard can you push it? At what point is leading an issue? Is there a reason to avoid non-jacketed bullets all together?

How many times can you re-use brass?

What powders do you like?

Any particular quirks for loading this round?

Primary application will as a woods/hunting gun. Reasonable accuracy to 70 yards/meters is more important than raw power.

A lot will depend on what 10mm you buy. Glocks w/ factory bbls can be an issue with lead bullets running hard. A 1006, will run fine with any lead bullet. Most like the various 200gr LFP for woods or even hunting. I think a better hunting bullet, at least for deer size game, would be the 200gr XTP running 1200fps.
Brass life always depends on how hard you push it. With max loads, you may get 10X reloads, depending on whos brass, but you may find primer pockets start to go sooner than later. It's a service round, loads like any other.
A lot of 10mm guys are in love with 800X for heavy bullets at the top end. I just haven't gotten terrific accuracy with it, plus you must weigh every charge, it meters like krap. BlueDot, AA#9, Longshot, AA#7, all are usefull for full power loads. For full power 200gr loads, I am liking AA#9 a lot. For 180gr & under, Longshot has been good.
I have yet to find a load that makes any of my 10mm much more than a 50yd gun. My best loads might go 6" @ 50yds from a rest in my Colt, Glock or 1006. I am sure iron sights plays some part in that, but all my magnum rev are more accurate than that. It's a good round, but if you really want to reach out, a 4"-5" 41 or 44mag will be a better tool.
