.22 TCM
Just wondering if anyone is reloading this cartridge, the .22 TCM. It's a 9X19mm case necked to .22. If so, can you form your own brass from 9mm assuming there are forming dies available?

The parent cartridge is not the 9x19, it is the 5.56x45
No forming dies for making the cartridge from .223 brass are available as far as I am aware
Brass and factory ammunition are plentyfull. You would be much better off just ordering and not trying to form the case.
There is also a hand loading article coming out in a few months that will offer alternative projectiles and powders.

I just grabbed some empty brass from the back room. Sorry for a ****** cell phone picture
As you can see a formed 22TCM case is MUCH longer than a 9x19 case

I don't reload for this reload but have researched it for several months. You can chop down 223 brass and form it in regular dies. It is wise to anneal the brass after trimming.
Hornady and Lee both make dies for the 22 TCM.

If you made the brass from 223, wouldn't you have to inside ream prior to forming?

I reload the 22TCM. Isn't formed from 9mm or any other case but can be made from 223 but so much of a hassle you may as well buy new rounds and pickup your brass. You can buy new orignal Armscor brass and bullets
From Ammo Supply Warehouse. Load data on the web is all over the place as substitution of factory bullets changes everything. I use all factory products other than powder. I use W296 as it closest to factory load. Many use other powders with varied results. Read a lot, research and be safe!

The 22 TCM looks like a fun round.
Do you guys shoot it from a Rock Island "1911"?
I like that those come with a 9mm barrel and recoil spring.
Is it less "picky" to reload than the FN 5.7??
Always wanted one of those but to pricey the brass is got to be just right.

I use strictly factory brass.....way too much hassle and time for this old man to form brass. I've had my tcm for a little over a year and have reloaded several hundred rounds. For a factory duplication round, I use the Armscor 40 gr bullet and Li'l Gun with a Federal 205 primer. I've tried H110, HS6, and Longshot also.
Have used Hornady 46 gr Bee bullet(favorite), Speer 46 gr flat point bullets too.

Cool, It uses regular 223/556 bullets doesn't it? The light ones?.

It use .224 bullets, but you have to be choosy. The shape of the bullet must allow it to be seated deep enough to fit the magazine, but yet have enough of the side of the bullet contacting that little short neck to hold in place. The three bullets mentioned above meet this criteria; The Armscor bullet is the same bullet they load in their 22 rf magnum ammo. Some guys have used Hornady 35 gr VMax, but I can't get them to work..

I also shoot the Rock Island Armory 1911 HS combo which comes with an interchangeable 9mm barrel. Sighting picture very different between the two calibers. Mine is sighted for the 22TCM but when I get tired of my Glock I'll throw in the 9mm barrel and recoil spring for the 9mm. Just have to adjust target hold for caliber.

Order yourself a LEE Precision factory crimp die.
The LEE Precision factory crimp die applies a collet style crimp and does not care if the projectile has a cannelure or not.
This will make many of those projectiles that have marginal neck tension viable candidates for this cartridge.

Best dies are by Hornady and is a 3 die set. Resizing die properly sizes neck and set back on taper of case. Sizing die sets neck diameter so no crimp needed as the neck tension is tight enough to hold bullet tightly. Makes a perfectly sized reload. Have never had any not go into battery!
