Default Plated bullets for 45C

Perhaps I did this the the wrong order but, ....

Just had 500 45-255gr copper plated bullets delivered from xtreme.

45- 255 FP

I am in the process of experimenting for my Uberti 1873 Cattleman El Patron and 1873 Carbine.

I've got 200gr and 250gr lubed from xtreme, 250gr coated from Missouri bullet and now trying these copper plated.

Anyone have any good/bad to share? I'm also still waiting for someone to have some Trail Boss in stock For now I've got plenty of 231/HP38, CFE Pistol, WSF, and WST on hand.

I'm not really asking for load data. I'm more interested in performance of the plated bullets in those two firearms as compared to lubed lead and coated. Turns out these plated run about the same cost as the coated.

I know, I know, should have asked before buying 500 of them but it was one of those late night things with the bottle of bourbon! I actually blame freedom munitions for making them look so pretty

I have ordered several thousand bullets from X-treme in plated for 38's and 45 ACP. They are great bullets. Just be sure your don't damage the plating by shaving it when you seat your bullets or over crimping. If you are shooting paper targets just look for clean holes, if you have holes with splatter tears you are likely seeing the result of shredded plating on the bullets.

What kind of Bourbon?

I use a lot of xtreme in 9, 40, and 45ACP as well. Just never saw/used plated for 45C before. That's what I was really after, use of plated bullets in 45C. Plus they're .451 and not .452 like the lubed and coated.
45-250gr. RNFP Cowboy
Missouri Bullet Company

Probably one of these

I shoot USPSA Single Stack using X-Treme 200 grain 45 plated bullets without issue. Several thousand rounds to date.

I've been playing with some different bullets for my 45 Colt M25-13 too. The coated MBC 255gr SWC & 250gr RNFP's worked fine.

Bought some Xtreme in 255gr TNFP (.4516") just for it. Also got some 225gr TNFP (.4517") that I figure can do double duty as 45 Colt & 45ACP. I also bought some of their 230gr RN-HP (.4526") with the heavy plating (HPCB) & have used more of them in 45 Colt cases than 45ACP, so far. I just seat them to the ogive, ~.449", & use a taper crimp, like I do with all the plated bullets & they've shot great too. I think you'll be happy with yours.

And coated or plated bullets aren't picky about what speed powder you use with them like cast may be if it tends to lead.

For years my cowboy load is 225 to 240 lead RNFP over 6.7 of WW231. It has been accurate and mild out of both handguns and rifles. Try a small batch and see if that won't do the trick for you. Ivan
