So today I went backwards 44 magnum
( Hornady LNL AP) I bought a 1973 RCBS JR3 to help with resizing cast bullets and it works great, We have had a lot of rain in FL this weekend so I decided to load 6 rounds single stage. I cast the 240 grain bullets with a LEE mold, Used 20 grains of Accurate # 9 with CCI Primers , then I used ( for the 1st time Lee Dies) slapped everything together on the RCBS single stage I have to say this,,, it took a while to do but wow it was fun. I don't think I could load single stage day in day out but could if I needed too.. I can see why our mature friends stick with their single stage presses.. By the way RCBS JR 3 is a hell of a good press..

If it keeps raining like it has been, we will have lots and lots of time to reload, maybe use a LEE wack a Mole!
We are flooded here and I know the range will be also for weeks due to sheet flow of water.

I've had my JR3 since '74. Until a few years ago it was my one & only means to reload. Now it's on my workbench in the garage & gets used for resizing & priming. My Lyman T-Mag II turret press, on my portable 3-legged table inside, gets used for the rest. I don't think I could handle a progressive press at this point in my life.

I also use a Junior along with my pair of LnL's. I use it for sizing and other assorted little things that pop up from time to time. I don't think I would want to sit at it and load ammo though. You really get spoilt using a progressive since most of us pistol shooters are ammo blasters anyway.

You should be loading in a well lit room. Perhaps a qualified electrician could add some lighting to your room.

A single might be slow but it is steady and puts out super ammo with a minimum of problems and quality control is at a maximum.
50 to 100 rounds a night is easy........
200 rounds is a healthy exercise..........
500 rounds if there is nothing on TV................
Got to love it.

Yes thank goodness for the indoor range I shoot at but the other night it rained and blew so hard it came into around the door. It has either been to hot to shoot at the out door range or raining. Don
