Default Tried out some new reloads

Yesterday got to shoot some fresh reloads I made up was quite pleased with accuracy. First up was my first time reloading the 148 grain HBWC from hornady. Can't find bullseye around here so I used red dot. First off its metering sucks lol, but I used 2.8 grains and seated flush with the case mouth. It shot to the sights in my 442 and recoil was practically nonexistent accuracy was great for the snub. It was downright scary in my 4" python. Average velocity was 675 fps and extreme spread was only 2 fps although I only put 4 threw the chronograph so not a very in depth test. Next up was the 29-3 with 8 3'8"with cast performance 255 grain WFN with plain base pushed by 10 grains of unique. Average velocity for 5 shots was 1154 fps with extreme spread of 28 fps. Once I adjust the red dot I managed to put 3 shots into a 3" shoot and see target at 50 yards. It seems like it left some small leading in the barrel. A 255 grain at 1150 fps should be plenty for deer I believe and that load should keep my old 29-3 running fine without being to hard on it. Does that sound like a pretty good deer load to y'all?

2.8 Red Dot is a winner in my snub nose J frame and 6".
Almost the accuracy of Bullseye.......

I played around with a light crimp and medium crimp to get
the best accuracy.

It does better in a 2" than Bullseye for +P loads and if you have a 6" 38 you might want to try 3.5grs of Red with the 158gr Lswc bullet that I get 755 fps with.

It is also great in the 9mm with the lighter bullets.

10 grains of Unique under a Speer swaged 240gr SWC is my favorite .44 mag practice load. Contrary to common belief, leading is minimal.

I ended up with I would call a medium crimp may try slightly lighter next time. On the 44 I finally found a light I could use to see in the barrel. Leading is very minimal and only spots I can really see is about the first inch or so of barrel.

Oh and by the way........

that deer load has 749 ft/lbs of muzzle energy.

If you keep those deer close to just 337 pounds, I see no problems if under 50 yards.
