yes....the rims pushed down into the cavity make simple dump-out impossible.

You might find such as a dental pick or bent tip punch very useful....and DON'T do that again. Problem solved.

Don't ask how I came up with a solution to this problem.

Any reason you're putting the empties into the foam & not just using plastic baggies?

No, other than I didn't have any baggies, and I had these.
I usually use plastic 100 round MtM boxes..take them to range loaded and bring the empties home in them.
Oh well lesson learned.

They look like Styrofoam trays. We use to call them "pigstickers", but they were dowels with a sharpened piece of wire on them for electronic probing.

Get a small dowel or block of wood, stick a sharpened piece of stiff music wire. Now you have a "Styrofoam-tray-shouldn't-have-done-that-extraction-tool"

I quit putting them back in the MTM boxes, it gets the boxes nasty dirty after a while. After forgetting my bags several times, I bought a box of them and threw it in my trunk.

Good idea. One of these would fit in a range bag. Guys who walk their dogs know what THESE are for!

Ahhh, the lessons we learn as we grow older! LOL :-) I throw all Styrofoam away, but keep the plastic trays for after tumbling my brass.

The MTM boxes will survive a trip through the dish washer.
I usually just bang out the loose stuff over a wastebasket and don't worry about the looks.
If I can't see through the translucent ones (I like) then I wash 'em.
The top lid has the loading info written on them in magic marker.

One day at the grocery store I asked If I could take some extra plastic bags. Cashier said sure and handed me a stack about 2 inches thick. That's a lot of bags. I keep 5 or so folded in a range bag pocket, then at the range I open 1 up and line one of the range bags pockets. It's big enough to roll the edge up and now you can just toss your cases in as you pick them up. When I get home I dump the bag for sorting if need be and toss the bag.

Yep, that's what I used to do,,then I decided that I didn't want to put my weapon in a bag of sand.

Gallon ziplock solved that.

I am a tad old school and use a Pachmayr shooting box.
Like to keep it clean.
No loose empties thank you very much.
I did buy a shooting bag but use it as a gym bag.
Love the self-supporting sides and heavy construction.
I also like the looks I get at the Y (I work there) which has the stupid "safe zone" sticker on the door.
My "gym bag" has an embroidered target and the name of my pistol range on it.
Have not been stopped yet but am waiting....

There's a bag that screams "STEAL ME!"

The pistol boxes are neat, but dang they get heavy with four guns and ammo, plus a scope of course. I enjoyed using one for years but these days the ranges seem to have all gone to narrow shelves that wouldn't hold one.

Difficult extraction is often the result of too hot a load. You might want to back off on your loads.

I use factory foam, baggies, MTM boxes, coffee cans etc.......
I have lots of time on my hands and don't mind a little distraction.

I have turned the cases around and used the foam cases and if the get stuck, grab a #2 pencil with an eraser, to extract the case that is giving me problems...........
but I normally use the foam with finished, loaded cases to limit my frustrations.
Plus they don't "Rattle" like the plastic cases and a round can be removed easily. Ever drop a round in a MTM box, primer down with a ball bullet !! Have fun getting that little rascal out of the box..........

I agree. The quality is much better, and the bags are thick enough to be reused a few times. The exception is if I can find computer parts bags. I retired over 5 years ago so I haven't seen any since, but those were even thicker. Thin economy bags aren't worth the effort. One tear and stuff falling out isn't worth any savings.
