Default W231 and BE-86

I've heard that they are one and the same. Is this so?

Absolutely NOT! W231 and HP-38 are one and the same. BE-86 is a relatively new powder, somewhat slower, and supposed to be similar - but not the same as - Unique. Do not interchange load data for the two powders you mention.

Yeah not even close. Many will say it is like PowerPistol with a flash suppressant, less blast & bang. Easy enough to tell, just load identical midrange loads, run them over the chrono. Bullets are not exactly the same but from the Alliant web. W231 Max is 5.3gr, not even close.

Wow, lots of bad information out there, always check with a reloading manual, or with the manufacture first.
