Missouri #1 Ranger bullet crimp groove
Bought these to shoot in revolver and lever rifle and there is very little crimp groove. Do any of ya'll use this bullet?
357 mag .358 dia 158gr RNFP
These are for tubular magazines, I thought the crimp groove would be the same as their SWC. Not even close. Am I overlooking something?

No not overlooking, just the design of the bullet so it feeds smooth in a tube magazine, Some lever actions do not like regular SWC in 357. My Marlin chokes on them. So the Ranger bullet works well.

Do you use a regular roll crimp on these? I don't trim brass and there's not a lot of room here.

I would since they'll be in a tube magazine

There isn't much groove here for brass that is a little long or a little short.

I do not trim handgun brass either, Just set your die for the longest piece of brass, as long as the crimp is below the narrow crimp groove you will be OK. You are talking maybe 1/100th difference here or there.

Now a truly devoted OCD reloader would sort the brass by headstamp, size them, measure them and then trim to length so they are all the same and crimps would be consistent and perfect. Probably only need to do that once,
You are correct in that the other crimp grooves are wider so there is more room to fudge here or there.

Measuring and separating brass ain't happening. Trimming either!
LOL! I was hoping to keep one load for revolver and rifle. I'm not sure I'm confident enough in SWC to cycle in my Marlin.

Mid Atlantic Bullet makes that same one. I like that that small crimp groove. I actually prefer it. I've used it in .357 and never had them work loose.
