000 buck
Has anyone any experience with triple 0 buck in a 38 special case instead of a "normal" bullet?
Just curious as to a replica of a 36 cap and ball ballistics that worked pretty well for J. B. Hickock.

As I recall, I used to load 3 of these in a Speer shot capsule for a "hockshop" load over 5 grains of Unique. No idea of velocity but it was interesting at the range, only recall shooting them at about 15 yds and keeping them on a silhouette.

I have never loaded a 000 buck in a .38 Special case but I did load a .36 Caliber round ball normally used in a 1851 Navy revolver. It's loads of fun and fairly accurate. I used Trail Boss. A black powder substitute would probably work well too.

I've loaded them as part of a snake shot load per this info.

I also have used a .375 RB in .38 Special cases, after sizing them to .358. I pressed them deep into the case and added some Crisco to the top. That's been more than a few years ago, but as I remember, they shot OK with light smokeless loads.
