Thumbs up Missouri Bullets 357 140 grain Zinger bullets

I finally got around to loading up some of the Missouri Bullets .357 dia. 140 grain "Zinger" (TCFP style) coated bullets last weekend and went to the range today and shot a box of 50 through my Coonan Classic. For those who aren't familiar with that pistol, it is a 1911 style pistol chambered for 357 Mag and a real hoot to shoot. But it doesn't like SWC style bullets at all, with many FTF with the SWC bullets. And Bayou Bullets, who I had been buying my coated lead bullets from, doesn't have any style 357 bullet I like that has a crimp groove in them except the SWC style bullet.

And I'm glad to say that these bullets feed through that auto pistol just fine, with zero feed or extraction problems and they seem to be pretty accurate in my limited testing today. I loaded them up in some GFL cases with CCI 550 primers and 12.5 grains of Accurate #9 and using a hard roll crimp. Recoil was also very moderate and I saw no trace of any leading in the barrel after running the box through the pistol.

Next trip to the range I will be trying some of their coated .357 dia. 180 grain Striker (RNFP style) bullets in that pistol and see how it likes them. I've never tried anything heavier than 158 grain bullets in the Coonan.

All in all, I'm liking the quality of the bullets I received from MBC, The bullets look to be quality cast and they seem to know how to apply the Hy Tek coating correctly.

That's good to hear they're working good for you.

In the past I've used their HT-coated bullets in four different calibers & all, except one, leaded when used with fast or moderate powders. If I switched to a slow powder, at the same indicated speed, they did fine. Let us know if you encounter this too. (The Acme HT-coated bullets I recently purchased do not have this quirk...curious.)

I've never noticed any leading problems with Bayou's HT coated bullets using Longshot, CFE-P, WSF or 231/HP38 in 9MM or 357 or 44 Mag. I've not tried any really fast powders such as BE with them though. However, with the HT coated SNS bullets I encountered fairly severe leading once the loads get much past 1,000 fps with those powders. I even loaded some really hot 95 grain Bayou bullets in 9 MM and no problems as far as I remember. I don't remember what powder I used for them, but it was one of the above, for sure and no leading at all in my Beretta M9.

I didn't bring my chrono yesterday because it looked like weather was moving in and hurried to leave the house before the rains hit us. I do plan to run some over the chrono to check velocities though when I get a chance.
