Dillon 550 Bell Crank Update
I got the upgrade installed yesterday and am thinking about going back to the original. I thought the powder measure was stuttering from time to time and thought this might cure it. Not sure if I am going to like the new style. Has anyone else upgraded?

I have one one of the older style and one of the newer styles. They both seem to operate as well as the other. I have had no issues with the new style. Here's a couple of videos I found, I think as long as everything is aligned properly it should work just fine.

Good videos. How do you get from not smooth to smooth?

Those aren't mine, just a couple I found that could be the cause for the hangups. If mine was doing that, the not smooth, I would be calling Dillon on Monday to discuss it with them. I have had nothing but stellar service from Dillon over the years.

As I understand it, the "not smooth" is what is suppose to happen. It is suppose to help "settle" the powder and prevent overcharges.

I will have to go down and play with mine, I am getting ready to load up 1k of 45, which is my new style, and see how it works. I don't recall it being "not smooth" though.

User max has it right. The not smooth video is how it's supposed to be. This prevents the powder bar from resetting until the shell plate has been almost completely lowered and the "shake" at the end helps to give more uniform drops.

It looks like someone needs to give Dillon a call and ask what is what.

I got the up grade several years ago when I had a crack in my powder measure frame. They replaced it all. I thought it worked a little rough, so I noticed the main plate is a "punched" piece and it wasn't perfectly flush on the backside and in the slot that the rod operates in. I got my files out and made it flush and took all the burrs out of the slot. Rubbed a little gun grease on it and it operates perfectly now. I think the burrs were mostly the problem.
