Default Hornady 10th, anyone have it?

I just picked up an on sale copy of the Hornady 9th, then saw the 10th is out. Haven't opened the shrink wrap yet and wondered if the 10th has any new powders that would apply to .45, 9mm and .38 that I am loading.

If not I'll just keep the 9th and save a few bucks. Anyone have it to make a comparison yet?

Look on their website and update your 9th for whatever calibers you load for.

I've been using 9 for a few years.
The loads are pretty mild than my other manuals.
All that does is make my powder last longer.
Paper targets don't require much killing.

If anyone has the #10, does it have data for the newer pistol powders like CFE Pistol and BE-86?

Some of these newer powders are very promising, but there's limited data on them.

I just ordered one from MidwayUSA. The 9th was my favorite manual and had data for more (and newer, like 300-MP) powders than the other manuals. I am excited to see what the 10th has in it. I too am hoping for data on CFE-Pistol and BE-86.

Just received mine today. Bought from Midway, think it was $35 and free shipping. Looked briefly and got pleased - finally a manual with data for CFE-P and BE86, well at least for "most popular" cartridges - they have BE86 data for 9x19, 38SP, 357Mag, 40S&W, 45ACP. No data for more "exotic" like 357 Sig, 9x18Mak or "under" 9x19. Max charges that they provide are lower than from Alliant website (but Hornady use shorter OAL). Overall I think money well spent

I got mine too. The 10th has data for BE-86, CFE-Pistol, and one I have not heard of called SW Auto Pistol. The data is unique, meaning it was not just copied and pasted from the powder manufacturer's websites.

Plus, it has loading data for their new ELD-X bullets.

It is worth getting.

Checked out the Lyman 50th...Info~95.635% the same as in my 49th, was about the same between my Speer #13 and 14, and I suspect the same will be true between the Hornady #9 and 10. I was looking for a #10, and the store didn't have it, so I bought the 9...About $18, with my veteran's discount. I don't feel information-poor.

Jupiter, there are more difference between Horonady 9 & 10 than between Lyman 49 & 50. Hornady added 2 rifle calibers (sorry don't recall which ones); loads for their new design rifle bullet and recipes for BE-86 & CFE-P for pistol loads. Those changes made it worth it for me (even though I have 9th edition).

That is very true! I've never experienced and issues with penetration or expansion when shooting paper targets. Thus I load what's comfortable to shoot and not only save powder, but also wear and tear on both the firearm and myself.

I have a favorite Browning 9mm HP GP Competition that has seen thousands of 115 grain lead SWC bullets with very mild loads and the thing not only shoots amazingly well, but the barrel looks like new. And it hasn't failed to put a nice round hole in any target yet!

Thanks for the reviews gentlemen! I went ahead and returned the 9th and am going to order the 10th. Figured I might as well get the latest edition.
