New IMR powders
Great more powders to buy
Looks like they are even color coded to coordinate with different press.

...and more reloading manuals.
Is there really a problem with the old powders?

Sigh, if those are color coded, then I don't see anything for my press

I guess I'm a sucker to try new things that make sense. The key for me is powders that meter well, if they don't then are plenty others that do. I'll give them a try

But, but, they are "green" as in environmentally safe
Heck I can't keep up with the powders I have.
My favorite name is IMR Unequal™
Think they want to compete with Unique??

Nice to investment and r&d going on in reloading. Hopefully they can crank these powders out by the boatload at reasonable cost.

Wonder if the "New" IMR Blue can be used in the full load 357 Magnum
and 41 now.........?
Notice the 1 pound cans went down to just 14 oz. with the new line up.
Will they stack up to the old powder in fps ? Volume ?
Just what we old timers need.........
a new can of worms.

Dallas gun show this past weekend plenty of reloading supplies. 8 lb jug of 2400 I have been looking for 3 years I got for $180 out the door & Winchester primers $130 a case +tax --I didnt see any new colors though. Prices seem to be dropping other than 22s.

My guess is there's a better mouse trap from a manufacturing perspective. Some new forumula / process is more cost effective than the old formula / method. I'm guessing, totally guessing, since they mentioned "green" they may have changed their process to avoid some kind of environmental related costs instituted to economically pursuede more environmentally friendly manufacturing processes.
Maybe they were at the end of the useful life of an old manufacturing train. When investing in new equipment, they looked at formulation and process to optimise cost?

If any of them appear to meet my needs, I will too.
When IMR's Enduron line of powders came out, I tried them all. IMR4451 reduced my .260 REM's groups from 3/4" to under a half-inch at the affordable expense of about 50 feet per second. It also produced this three-shot group from my 6.5-.284 Norma.
Finally, IMR7977 shrunk my .300 REM Ultra Mag's groups from an inch-plus to less than a half-inch.
Not bad for such an intense cartridge in a Remington 700 with nothing done to it but float the barrel and adjust the trigger. Before trying IMR7977, I was never able to get that rifle to shoot the way I wanted.
So maybe there is some benefit to be gleaned from new powders.

Not a joke--I used my HC sticker to park in front & my wheelchair held all of our goodies with me pushing. Some days are better than others. The date code on the 2400 is 0716

Like AveragEd I found IMR4451 gave outstanding results in 30-06 using Sierra 175gr TMKs out to 1200yds. MVs were higher than anticipated, and higher than IMR4350, but that could be because of the TMKs and not the powder. Now my go to powder for 30-06 LR.
OTOH, IMR7977 gave poor results for me in 338 Lapua using 300gr Berger OTMs showing pressure signs at much lower velocities than VV N570. OTOH, it gave decent performance using 250gr Berger OTMs at modest velocities . . . however I have no other powder to compare. Won't be using it again in 338 Lapua.
At some point I'll try some of the other, newer IMR powders. I think the "environmentally friendly" allusions refer more to the manufacturing process than in-use effects. Given how the EPA could continue, that may be an important factor in availability.
ETA: Thanks for the OP, I hadn't seen any announcements.

I've never seen it and we have 7 local places that carry reloading supplies. I been looking regularly for some more old fashioned Red Dot for 3 years .
Maybe this new IMR Red will do job.....but it has to be stocked before I can buy it. I'll give it a go !

I bought some 4166 to try (lol I have 10 lbs; pre-election hording). I read it can be used anywhere 4895 or 4064 can, plus less fouling and temperature sensitivity. I'm going to try it in a few .308 loads.

This is like someone sitting and telling you for like a whole year that you should be really, really, really excited about this year's Christmas present, hyping it up, getting you excited, and telling you this is going to be big. Then you open your big present from Chris Hodgdon expecting the return of SR 4756 and instead you get a big box of regular socks that you already have drawers full of. Rather disappointing.

I'm sure they're made with their new simplier cost efficient process to maximize profits.
I wonder what old powders will be dropped when they're added?
I'm liking IMR Blue already.

Of course not Simplifies the replacement process for products seeking market share where there's long standing incumbants. They need all the help they can get. Alliant should feel honered
