Default Load weights for CFE Pistol in 40 SW

Hello All, I have begun loading CFE Pistol powder in 9mm, 357 sig, 40 SW and 45 ACP. I have perused the web extensively to determine proper load weights and have done very well EXCEPT for 40 SW. Hodgdons charts with a BERB FP 155gr (which I use) show 7.2-7.8 grains. Most places (forums, commercial sites, reviews) do not show this at much more than 6.5 as a max.

Anyone have info to set me straight? Thanks!

My Hornady 10th manual has load for 155 XTP bullet with min charge of 6.0 and listed velocity of 1000 and max charge of 7.1 with velocity of 1150. They say they've used G22 for their testing. Standard disclaimer applies - use at your own risk ...

Load 5 or 10 with the lower data, perhaps the midrange of the XTP data, and see how it functions. I doubt very much you'd stick a bullet, but exercise caution and check the bore.

Better to have a handful that won't function, rather than a handful of proof loads.

Why don't you just give Hodgdon's a call ? Let them tell you what they recommend . I would take the powder co's word first .
