Dont get caught using the salad spinner for a media seperator

I use the Dillon CM-500 media separator. I use for dry media separation and also for separating the SS pins and rinsing the cleaned cases when I use wet cleaning and SS pins on my Frankford Arsenal rotary tumbler. For dry media cleaning I use a 30+ year old Lyman Turbo 1200 and the Lyman Green corncob media. It works very well for both types of cleaning.

A slotted spoon works fine.

I use a Lyman vibratory cleaner with cheap lizard bedding. The lid to the tumbler is generously slotted (runs outside due to dust) so I just turn the still running vibrator upside down in a 5 gallon bucket and shake vigorously. All the media goes in the bucket and the brass stays in the tumbler. Dump the brass in another container; dump the media back in the cleaner; voila! No separate separator required. It's not hard - really.

A separator beats shaking into a bucket every time! Much quicker, with better results! I'd never go back to the shake into the bucket...

I use the mid size Dillon. Not very expensive when you think about it.

The plastic "pan" sold for that purpose, about $7, works well for me.

Then I suppose it comes down to how many we're doing at once. I've done it both ways. The separator is a far more efficient method. I'd almost give away those pans. Probably keep them for sentimental reasons.

I use a plastic collander that I bought at Wal-Mart. Works great!

Same here,the plastic colander and a plastic slotted spoon.
