.455 Colt-Eley Cases ( Mk I Cases, Webley)
Has anyone here reformed cases to the .455 Colt -Eley case which is .88" long ? Most seem to use the .45 Colt case by thinning the rim on a lathe from the backside and trimming the length. It struck me that the .45 Schofield case would be a better case to start with as it's case head diameter is greater than the .45 Colt case and more nearly approaches the original Mark I and Mark II Webley case heads. Of course it would still have to have the rim thinned down and be trimmed to length. Thoughts ?

Hornady made ammo and cases, same for Fiocchi. Graff and Sons had some brass and ammo in stock. There are other modern brands also! Why put 5 to 10 dollars of time in a 50 cent case?
Just a little warning; not all Schofield cases are of Schofield dementions, many are 45 US, a 45 Colt case in 45 Schofield length (smaller head and rim diameters.)

If you can find any Hornady .455 Mark II brass that would be your best bet. They stopped making it years ago, but maybe you can find some on Gunbroker. I bought 200 pieces from Grafs in 2005 and another 200 a few years later. Some have been loaded more than 10 times with only 1 neck split. I think I've got a lifetime supply!

Thank you all. I have sufficient Mark II cases by Hornady, which are .76" long. What I wanted to try was the Mark I case which is longer at .886". Buffalo Arms has it reformed from .45 Colt cases but I was curious if the Schofield case would be better. I see however that Schofield cases can vary so I think I'll stick to the reformed .45 Colt cases. I was curious if there would be any difference in the accuracy between the Mark I and Mark II cases. I'm using a Mark VI Webley and a Second Model hand ejector Smith & Wesson to try this all out. Thanks again.
