Xtream 158 SWC load ?
Looking to try out the xtream 158 grain SWC bullets but cant seem to find much load data. I have w231 powder and look to load in 38 cases. They will be fired from a 4 inch 686.
Are these a good shooting Bullet? link 38- 158 SWC
What powder charge would you all recommend?
Thanks

Just load your w231 in the middle of jacketed data with this bullet and go shoot. If you want it hotter, You can go to 4.5gr (edge of +P). I shot a ton of these for minor power IDPA before they lowered the required PF.
If you want to load .357 with that bullet, I'd keep it down to 1100fps for best accuracy. Don't load plated bullets to MAX in magnums.

There's 15% off everything today plus Free shipping at Xtreme Bullets
I use Bullseye,Red Dot and Titegroup for target loads and 5.0gr of Unique for personal defense when loading 158gr LSWC bullets
I've never used W231/HP-38

I've found any of Xtreme's plated 158gr bullets, either SWC, TNFP, or RNFP, accurate with the right load. I've decided on the RNFP for my 357s.
I've found 6.1gr/HP-38 (same as W231) to be an accurate load with this bullet, in 357Mag cases. Reduce by 10% for the smaller 38 Spcl. cases.
I've found the following also very accurate with them, in 357 cases, in my 5" 686+ and 5" 327TRR8:
Unique @ 7.0gr, ~965mv
CFE-P @ 6.3gr, ~1050mv
P-P @ 8.0gr, ~1000mv
G-D @ 5.7gr, ~975mv

You're not going to find a lot of data specific to plated bullets. For Xtreme, go about halfway between starting and max jacketed data, and adjust from there. My experience has been that that mirrors factory standard loadings pretty well.
