9MM projectile choice 115hp 124tmj or 147tmj
I have a chance to buy some bullets and was wondering what would function best in normal 9mm. Should I go with the 115hp or the 124 or 147. Looking for the best overall functionality.
Thanks.

147s will on occasion have problems because of truncated cone and OAL.

After trying several weights and profiles in pistol ranging from 1943 era Walther P-38 German military contract , 2000 Beretta 92 and 2016 Springfield compact , they all preferred the 124 truncated cone design.
The truncated cone design caused no feeding problems , when the 9 mm Luger was developed it was designed around a 124 gr. TC bullet. It was changed during WWI when complaints were made it was too destructive !

I think a 124 gr is probably the best overall choice. Never had any issues with them as far as functioning in any of our 9mm's

All my readings indicate the cartridge was designed around the 124 gr. Bullet. That's what I load.

Post #6, true...;
Plus the longer bullet allows for a not more room in setting a OAL
that a reloader can set to find a high vel or low fps target load.
The shorter 115gr "Ball type" bullet at the short OAL did not work
in my 9mm for accuracy but did get higher fps. however my
load at 1.12 and 1.14" shot the best in Fac. and Milt. brass cases, for me.
I would try one of these bullets first before getting some 147gr bullets.
You might find a 124 or light 115gr that does well in your pistol....
however my pistol likes all three.
Good shooting.
