Default Buy 1st. Ask questions later!

Was at Cabelas today, to get pistol primers on sale. I like to stay ahead. Almost forgot some .40 projectiles. Because a couple kinds of Berry's plated were marked down some, purchased 1, I never heard of. 180 gr. THP. Target hollow point.
Has anybody used them? What were your results like? Are they supposed to be better?
Just curious. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks, Bob

Many target bullets are Hp to move the center of gravity to the rear and provide a better flight path. HP target implies they are not designed to be used as a defensive hp.

I've shot a few without recognizing any obvious difference in group size. Willing to give a large sample try, plan to actually buy some soon.

I read somewhere that unlike jacketed round nose rounds, they will deform on impact, and ricochets are lessened.

I guess it is the same principle that Hornady uses with their HAP bullets for target use. Just with a plated versus a jacketed bullet.

From Berry's website:
The Target Hollow Point is similar to the flat point profile but the hollow point nose cuts
a cleaner hole through the target and allows the bullet profile to be longer providing more
contact area with the barrel and rifling to stabilize the bullet and improve accuracy.
SAAMI MAX .40 COL = 1.135"
SAAMI MAX 10mm COL = 1.250"
Can withstand velocities up to 1250 fps.

And yes they make them in 9mm, 38/357, 44, 40/10, and 45acp!

I had bought some rainier 158 gr hp's a couple years ago in a clearance sale. I was surprised how well they performed even to 50 yds with a 6" gp100.
