Default Anyone reloading Berry's 200gr. .45?

Took my new 4513 pistol to the range today and it ran great with factory 230 gr. FMJ.
It choked on my first .45 reloads with failures to feed. Slide hung up and would not close fully.

I used Berry's 200 gr. flat points seated to 1.155" with a mild taper crimp. (Used Hodgdon OAL for Speer 200 gr. JHP). They pass the plunk test. I'm not sure if they are hanging up on the shoulder or the flat point, but it leads me to believe they're too long. Probably should have used 200gr. cast SWC data of 1.225", but thought I'd ask for your experienced input.

How deep are you guys seating them and do you think I can just seat them a little deeper without tearing up the plating?

As always, Thanks,
Hal

I've used them in the past in a Sig P220. Don't have the numbers in front of me, but I seat them deep so the 'shoulder' is about .020" out of the case mouth, same as I would seat a SWC.
I use JHP data.

You can try re-seating existing rounds, I've done it in .40 with plated, but I don't crimp my auto rounds.

Velocity and pressure will increase slightly with deeper seating.

I've seated Berry's 200 gr FP at 1.175" in a Gold Cup with a throated Kart barrel and slight taper crimp without any problems. I seat the 200 gr SWC at 1.22" with the same results.

Think you're saying this backwards. You said they'll too long but then indicate you should have seated them with a longer OAL" ??

I've never used those Berry's but the 3rd Gens are usually very forgiving feeders. I think they're too short. I'd suggest to go to at least 1.200" OAL.

With some bullets I go to 1.250" w/o issue, which is still below SAAMI max COAL". Double check the "plunk" but 3rd Gens usually have plenty of leade.

From Berry's website for that bullet:
Berry's Superior Plated Bullets are swaged and plated to final weight and re-struck for accuracy and precision. They are more affordable than jacketed rounds and won't foul your barrel with lead.
SAAMI MAX COL = 1.275"
Can withstand velocities up to 1,250 fps.
You are .12" under that length. Maybe load 5 rounds at or about their listed OAL and verify.
