Default need help reloading rainier/ xtp bullets w/ CFE POWDER

Hello all. I have some hornady xtp 155 grain bullets.
rainier flat nose COPPER JACKETED 165 grain bullets.(they say to use lead loading data for these bullets)
cci small pistol primers
and some cfe pistol powder.

I cannot find any reloading data for either of these with cfe powder.
please help me on this. I have 2lbs of this powder. I would also like some reloading data for 10mm with this powder if possible.
THESE 40 S&W LOADS ARE FOR A KEL TEC SUB2K GEN2

I need to only read from people that have used this powder and I am not buying more powder till this is gone

Default XTP

XTP is on the Hodgdon web site.

For the lead/plated, I'm going to check my Lymans manual. If I find something I'll be back.

I have used this powder.

For the Rainier 165gr plated bullets just use the Berry's (BERB-FP) 165gr load data on Hodgdon's website with CFE-P. I've used it with Xtreme's plated 165gr bullet.

The new version two Lee manual has quite a bit of CFE Pistol data with those bullet choices. Lyman 50th does not. Not sure about 10mm.

Read and read, and then read some more.

FWIW; A couple hints for new reloaders, first, find a load in your reloading manuals before you buy components. Many fewer headaches and much less confusing and time lost that way. Normally I don't recommend plated bullets to new reloaders because I've seen many, many questions on forums about "What powder and how much do I use with my plated bullets?" and "How do I crimp my plated bullets?". Perhaps it's just no readily/easily available info.data on plated bullets.

You should be able to find data for the Hornady bullets in a Hornady manual (or on line) and I've always used lead bullet data for plated bullets, mostly from my Lyman manuals...

Load Data - Rainier Ballistics
Quote:
Rainier recommends using commercially published jacketed bullet load data when loading our projectiles. There is no need for adjustment when using jacketed bullet load data. Our bullets are completely encapsulated in copper, creating a “Total Copper Jacket” (TCJ) through a specialized electroplating process, and are softer than traditionally jacketed bullets.
We recommend a starting powder charge between the listed minimum and maximum load found in various published and reputable reloading manuals.
A slight taper or minimal roll crimp may be used with our bullets. Over-crimping plated bullets may result in decreased accuracy, and can result in the fragmentation of copper plating.
...from their website, use load data for jacketed bullets.

be watchful of your CFE loads; I tried them in a variety of 9/38/357/10 recipes a few years ago.

Never bought another can of it for some strange reason. IIRC it didn't like to cycle my Old Faithful 9mm pistols even with the upper end charges per Hodgdon. I'm sure I ran some decent loads but just can not find any notes to celebrate my vigilance.

That is strange............

CFE worked in powder puff to full +P loads in my 9mm pistols
from 3" up to 5" barrels.

It did any thing w231 would do in the 38 and 357 mag, also.

4 year old thread, but;

I found data for both of your bullets in my 2018 Hodgdon manual with CFE Pistol powder...

Well, both of the O/P's two bullets in 40 S&W (basically?), from back in 2017...!

And the 155gr XTP in 10mm as well.

P.S. I, too, like this powder: quite versatile.
