Helpful Tip/New Use For Hornady One Shot
So, I was reloading in the garage this afternoon when a big 'ol yellow jacket landed right behind my press. Too close to my hand, and the thing looked ornery, so I looked quick for something to squash it with, and just grabbed the can of One Shot.
Sprayed the the little spawn of satan with it, and it died quick! I mean real quick, maybe a second. Much faster than when I've sprayed them with hornet/wasp spray...
I'm now an even bigger fan of One Shot. Not sure what's in it, but if you're ever in a pinch, this stuff works great.
Spring is here, just thought I'd share the tip...

If it killed the bee that quickly it has to make you wonder if you should be getting it on your skin.
Thanks for the info.

At $2 per can the WalMart brand Super Tech carb cleaner will do the same thing for a lot less money. Yes, I'm cheap!
My guess is the solvent that quickly dries the One Shot is what kills them.

One-Shot, WD-40 and Carb Cleaner (other than lawn equipment what has a carburetor these days?) all contain hydrocarbon solvents that can irritate mucous membranes and cause neurologic problems. The wasp is a lot smaller than a human. I'm sure if one of us bathed in a tub of Carb Cleaner we wouldn't do very well, either, but incidental exposure to tiny amounts is not something most of us need to worry about.
A guy I knew in the Army many years ago was clearning a piece of equipment with a solvent when the door to the enclosure got closed and he was overcome by the fumes. He wasn't found for about twenty minutes. When he got out of the hospital, they sent him home on disability.

Not trying to start anything, here, just stating my experience; but I never stuck a case in a resizing die before using Hornady One-shot lube. Maybe a user problem?
Others reported the same thing, so I switched to Dillon case lube in the non-aerosol bottle, and all I got before learning to use it properly is a few small lube dents.

Insects breath through their thorax. Any oily or soapy substance will prevent them breathing and they don't hold much air.

Yep, about 4oz of Dawn liquid soap in a gallon of water, does a quick job on stinkbugs in my local. BTW, it also kills the moss that grows on my patio pretty well.
Never used it to re-size cases though, go there at your own risk!

Off-label use of products . . . tsk . . . tsk . . . .
You need Federal approval to do that!
