Speaking of new powders
ALLIANT has a newer one called Sport Pistol. Very little data for it yet. Has anyone seen or used it, or will it likely be summer before it appears in stores?
It seems like it should be a good substitute for Unique in Mid-range 357 Magnum loads, and probably +P for the .38 Special.

From what I have read , it's more like a closer match to W231 / HP38 . But I haven't tried it .

Here's their advertising pitch for it: (no recipes given)
Precision and action shooters need consistent, clean-burning propellant that lets them perform to their peak when a competition is on the line. New Alliant Powder® Sport Pistol™ delivers on these demands with extremely reliable cycling, excellent charging and case fill, and ballistics that lend themselves to a range of popular loads. Sport Pistol's low-muzzle-flash formulation is also optimized for polymer-coated bullets, whereas comparable powders can dissolve polymer coatings at the bullet base during ignition.
Clean-burning formulation
Extremely reliable cycling for competitive shooters
Optimized for polymer-coated bullets
Versatile ballistics
Excellent charging and case fill
Low muzzle flash
Made in the U.S.A.
.
Guess me need a powder special for coated bullets now.

Dang, now another thing to try!
It just so happens I'm about to start loading coated for the indoor range. I'll see how it compares to BE-86, which is becoming my go-to powder. I like the fact that they mention it's clean and flash suppressed. Hopefully they're not discontinuing BE-86!

Hopefully not, HP-38 did not work for me.
For standard (read non-magnum) pistol powders, I've found Alliant to be across the board better than Hodgdon, except for Universal. It performs the same as Unique, but meters much better and burns cleaner.

Okay scratch that. I found some load data. They're advertised velocities suck. It would be nice If Alliant reported pressures like they used to. My guess is these loads are severely lawyered-down. I'm sure it would be fine for cowboy-action-type stuff, but I don't do that, so I don't know.
The forum isn't letting me upload the pdf. It wants to turn it into a jpg.

The reason being that I've only only seen one pound of it in my life.

I just did my first ever test with BE-86 on 4/21/2017 in my 9mm.
I will do my little 38 snub and my 357 magnum soon............
It compared well with Unique.
I would hate it if this "New Powder" got the boot so soon.
However the write up on this newer powder, says a mouth full.
