I sling a lot of lead, but like full power 44mag loads, and would like some jacketed in bulk (1k pieces).

What are you using and where are you finding them?

If it doesn't have to be jacketed you might take a look at the offerings from Badman Bullets in 44. From their website:
"Badman Polymer Coated Bullets have a strong lead core (15 BHN) with a durable 2 layer baked on Polymer coating finish. They perform extremely well from low to high velocities. We have personally tested our .452 diameter 250 Grain RNFP bullet to 1,800 fps with great results. Compared to plated or jacketed bullets they are less expensive, as good as or better and they don't foul your barrel."

They are quite low on inventory at the moment. You will find good info from them too if you call.

The Zero JSP-FP is one of the cheapest jacketed bullets out there and their minimum lot is 1K.
Be aware that the 44 version is .431" in diameter and meant for the older 44's with larger chamber throats.
Anything made before the late 1990's probably qualifies.

Best Hard Cast Lead Bullets Polymer Coated Bullets I gotta' second badman bullets. They are cheap free shipping (over 1000). I just bought 1000 in .44 1000 in .357. They loaded up well, shot them to magnum velocities, and they were accurate and didn't foul my barrel. A win win all around

Zero is on the radar for 9mm and 357 (I've been using precision delta with success), but those .431's kinda scare me lol.

I've shot nearly a thousand of the Zero's out of my 24-3 and they work great. I've shot just as many Montana Gold's too, but the .431s are a better fit in my 24-3. The Zero has a wider meplat also.

None of my magnums sees jacketed bullets, not since about 1980. I use lead bullets & recently coated lead. Nothing a good lead or coated lead bullet can't do vs jacketed & with less wear on the forcing cone. I used to shoot about 5K full power 44mags a year in met sil, jacketed plays havoc on a bbl forcing cone.
There are many cast/coated bullet makers now, both powder coated & Hi-Tek epoxy coated. Badman, Bayou, SNS, MBC, Cheycast, Acme, the list is pretty long. Plus it is stupid simple to do yourself if you cast your own.

Waiting for the break of day

Just measured my Zero 44 bullets. They were .429. This was a handful grabbed at random out of the box. I have loaded them in several 44 revolvers with excellent results. Real world results not speculation. I priced the coated bullets the Zero were cheaper and since I will never shoot 5000 a year I am not to concerned about wearing out a gun. I still shoot cast and always will but I find no problems with the Zero jacketed bullets except I need to order more for the future.

I have not shot at magnum velocities yet with them. I primarily shoot indoor target. I was impressed with the overall finish and quality of the 45's and 38/357's bullets I received.
The Badman are rated at 15 Brinell, I know Missouri offers some at a harder 18 Brinell. If you call and speak with Patrick at Badman he will give you the answers you need and they ship 1000 qty for free.

You are right!
I just checked my invoice and no tax, no shipping so $137.20/1000 total.

Either they changed them or you have a different bullet than they now ship for 44 magnum.
The ones I have are advertised as, and measure, .431".
In fact, they approach .432" on the ridges on either side of the cannelure which they obviously added last after the final swage.

They have the biggest meplat of any jacketed bullet I have ever seen.
Quite unusual jacketed projectile given it's diameter.

You can see the final nose forming swage as a shiny ring around the top.

I have had a good experience with Berry's Plated bullets in my .44 Special. 240Gr.

I got them from Cabelas I think last year. Believe it or not, they had the best price. It was $66 for 500. $0.13 per round. For me that wasn't bad considering to buy new factory ammo is typically over $1.50 per round in my area for 44 special.

I have also used Berrys in 9mm, 357, and 44 magnum, however i don't reload 44 magnum so much... I shoot that rarely.

Some of my best deal on bullets has been from Cabela's when they have a sale, with free shipping 10% off and I use my Cabela card bonus points.When all was said and done I picked up some 240 grain Hornady XTP hollow points for 5.9 cents a piece.

I never find deals like that!

If you want full load magnum at 1400 fps then jacketed you'll need. I push Xtreme copper plated at 1100fps with no problem great quality used them for years

I do about 1350 with the xtp's. 1200 and up with lead makes for more cleaning than I'd like if shooting more than a cylinder or two.

Guess I'll just keep my eyes peeled for some deals on jacketed.

With the right sized lead bullet, 1400fps is pretty normal. I have run 1500fps with out a gas check, but that is in my lower pressure 45-70. Proper fit, alloy & lube, lead bullets do fine at any reasonable handgun vel. If you are getting leading, something is wrong with the process. Either the bullet is too small, check your cyl throats, or too soft or the wrong bullet lube. The newer coatings are basically just another type of lube, one that does't fail under pressure.

Or too hard for low velocity loads.
And with a gas check we run cast bullets up to Mach 2 just fine given all the stuff you just said.

Generally a too hard alloy bullet will do fine if the size is right. Get it even 0.0005" too small, its likely to lead.
